The Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Marcelo Suarez Salvia, presented his Letters of Credence to Her Excellency Paula-Mae Weekes last Wednesday April 28. Prior to that, Amb. Suárez Salvia met with Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs.
Ambassador Suárez Salvia is committed to revamp Argentina-Trinidad and Tobago bilateral relationship. In the current pandemic context, challenges are plenty, but the future should be very promising.
The Argentine Republic recognized Trinidad and Tobago as an Independent State on September 26, 1962. Both countries have enjoyed diplomatic relations since 1964, when Argentina opened an Embassy in Port of Spain.
Along these years, Argentina and Trinidad and Tobago have shared and continue to share a rich relationship built on a mutual commitment to multilateralism, similar perspectives and shared values on many global issues including human rights, protection of the environment, strengthening democracy, combating terrorism and transnational crime.
