On Friday 30th June 2017, in the Residence of the Australian High Commission hosted a fundraising event titled "Afternoon Tea" for the Trinidad Shelter, a home for women and their families who have been victims of domestic abuse. 

Women Diplomats and other local female national Authorities supported the initiative that was also endorsed by the Argentine  Ambassador Ana Pisano.

The Trinidad Shelter has been providing refuge for women and their families who are victims of domestic violence since 1987. Currently there are 23 beds at the Shelter. It is the only Shelter in Port of Spain that accepts male children over 10 years old with their mothers.
