On the 25th of May, 2017, the Argentine National Day Celebrations were hosted by Ambassador Ana Pisano and her husband, Christopher Ashton, at their Westmoorings Residence in Port in Spain.
Both speakers, the Honorable Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs, Senator Dennis Moses, and Ambassador Ana Pisano, highlighted the strong bond and similarities between Argentina and Trinidad and Tobago, the support given in international forums, and the cooperation in trade and health care. The Minister also stated that the 53 years of bilateral relationships between the two countries have been built on mutual respect and friendship.
The function was attended by National Authorities, members of the Argentine Community, the Diplomatic and Consular Corps, representatives of International Organisations, and other distinguished guests.
The National Anthems of both countries were interpreted by a member of the local Lydian Singers, Ms Janine Charles- Farray.
Later Polo Historian, Christopher Ashton introduced a documentary by the Argentine Association of Polo Pony Breeders, which was enjoyed by the guests who had no prior knowledge of the sport, in which Argentina has dominated the world for over a100 years.
Tango and folkloric music were played and Argentine wines and delicacies were served.
